Samsung lowers repair costs by more than $200 For the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4

Samsung’s foldable phones are not cheap, and getting them fixed was often one of the biggest headaches. Now, Samsung has slashed the repair costs for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Flip 4 dramatically.

According to The Verge, replacing a cracked screen on the Galaxy Z Fold 4 and Galaxy Z Flip 4 now costs just $29 in repairs. The price is the same as what Samsung charges for its conventional cellphones and has decreased by hundreds of dollars over the years.

Fixing a broken screen on the Galaxy Z Fold 3 would have cost $249 outside of the regular warranty, and that was only if you had Samsung Care+, an additional $13 monthly fee on top of the phone’s purchase price (though Samsung did offer it for free for the first year). Screen repairs without Care+ for out-of-warranty issues cost close to $480.

Samsung has not yet confirmed the cost of an out-of-warranty screen repair for the Galaxy Z Fold 4 or Galaxy Z Flip 4. This is certainly a step in the right direction, though.

Samsung does mention that next-day repairs are subject to your location and that accidental damage claims are only allowed 3 times every calendar year.

While a monthly subscription isn’t always the best option for a smartphone, particularly when a case and/or screen protector offer more cost-effective protection, Care+ is a good purchase for foldables.

Most people won’t want to replace their Galaxy Z Fold 4 when it fails because it costs an outrageous $1799, and the exorbitant out-of-warranty repair expenses just make the situation worse. This is especially helpful because Samsung’s foldables can get damaged because they aren’t dust-proof. Additionally, durability problems still exist with ultra-thin glass.
