Australia’s wicketkeeper batsman Matthew Wade has retired from international cricket. Wade talked about the moment when he realized that his career with Australia was over. Wade represented the Australian team for 13 years and played 225 international matches. In 2021, Australia won the T20 World Cup title for the first time in which Wade was the vice-captain.

Sports Desk, New Delhi. Australia’s wicketkeeper batsman Matthew Wade announced his retirement from international cricket on Tuesday. Wade said that the defeat against India in the Super-8 of the T20 World Cup 2024 was the moment when he realized that his career with Australia was over.

Cricket.com.au quoted Wade as saying, “The 24-run defeat against India in the Super-8 round of the T20 World Cup this year was the moment when I realised that my career was over. It was an emotional moment. I enjoyed playing in this team, the relationships I built over the years. I felt a lot of attachment with this group and the coaching staff.”

He further said, “The defeat against India was the moment when I sat down and reflected on my career and got a little emotional thinking about the whole thing. The good thing is that I have performed well in the last few years and the way the team has been formed, I have got the finishing role.”
