A travel influencer’s video showcasing her major 2024 expenses went viral. Sharanya Iyer posted a reel on Instagram detailing her expenditures of Rs 50 lakh over the last 12 months. Travel accounted for a significant portion of the same. According to Sharanya, her entire airfare expenses in 2024 came to almost Rs 5 lakhs.
A journey to Greenland cost her Rs 3 lakh, three flights to Iceland cost Rs 2.5 lakh, her combined trip to Thailand and Laos cost Rs 1 lakh, her trip to Madeira cost Rs 1.5 lakh, and she traveled to South Africa with her parents for Rs 8 lakh. An additional Rs 60000 was spent on her “European Summer.” She claimed to have earned Rs 40,000 at the casino during the trip, which would have likely reduced the total expenses.
In addition to these trip costs, she disclosed that she paid Rs 5 lakh for uninsured medical bills and Rs 22 lakh for a new car. Sharanya explained in the caption that these numbers do not account for her expenditures on “F&B, daily expenses and material accumulations.” “I used to be such a compulsive saver and spend very little on the ‘big’ things,” she wrote.
