Communication in Dreams, Startup REMspace
Scientists in California have brought a science fiction concept to life. A California firm called Remspace recently managed to get two people to talk while they slept. This firm creates technology to enhance the quality of lucid dreams. When someone is in lucid dreaming state, they are aware that they are dreaming and have influence over the dream. We experience several phases of sleep, one of which is REM, or rapid eye movement. Only then is it possible to have lucid dreams. In this experiment, both subjects had lucid dreams in which they conversed with one another. This is a significant advancement in the field of sleep science research.
According to Raduga, the mechanism for communication is a unique attachment that affixes to various parts of the head.
“When you talk in this language in your dreams, we can hear you and we can connect two dreamers together,” he added.
The participants’ brain waves were tracked, which made the experiment successful. The business claims that in order to monitor the participants’ brain waves and biological information, they employed specifically made equipment. The information was then sent to the server in order to determine whether the participants were experiencing lucid dreams, and they were then issued a message. In order to do this, the two volunteers were housed apart, and a specialized gadget was used to track their brain waves. Let us inform you that Remyo, a unique language, was developed specifically for this project.
The initial participant experiences lucid dreaming. Someone brings him a word. The first person heard that word in the dream and spoke it again. In a similar manner, the second person heard the word and repeated it.
What is sleep?
A vital component of human life, sleep is necessary for both physical and mental recovery.
Types of sleep?
The two primary forms of sleep are Rapid Eye Movement (REM) and Non-Rapid Eye Movement (NREM), which include the five stages of sleep.
The first stage of non-REM sleep, or stage 1 NREM sleep, lasts five to ten minutes and is marked by relaxed muscles and slowed brain waves.
Light sleep, or stage 2 NREM sleep, lasts 20 to 40 minutes and is characterized by a lowered body temperature and reduced heart rate.
Deep sleep, or stage 3 NREM sleep, lasts 20 to 40 minutes and is characterized by slow delta waves, lowered blood pressure, and immune system regeneration.
After Stage 3, there comes 90–120 minutes of Stage 4 REM sleep, which is characterized by vivid dreams, fast eye movements, and paralysis of the muscles. During this phase, memories are solidified, emotions are processed, and mental renewal occurs. Every 90 to 120 minutes, there are three to five cycles of sleep per night.
