Bukurije Rexha (née Isai) and Flamur Rexha reared Bleta “Bebe” Rexha in Staten Island, New York City, after she was born in Brooklyn on August 30, 1989. At age 21, her father went to the United States. Bletë means “bee” in Albanian, and she clarified, “People started calling me Bebe for short because my parents are Albanian.”
Rexha was given songwriting credits on Eminem and Rihanna’s hit “The Monster” (which went on to win the Grammy Award for Best Rap/Sung Performance) after signing with Warner Bros. Records in 2013. She has also contributed to songs sung by Selena Gomez and Nick Jonas. The single “I’m Gonna Show You Crazy” from Rexha’s 2015 extended play I Don’t Wanna Grow Up had a moderate level of commercial success.
All Your Fault: Pt. 1 and All Your Fault: Pt. 2, two further extended plays by Rexha, were released in 2017. The singles “I Got You” and “The Way I Are (Dance With Somebody)” were once again moderately successful.
